The butterfly is locally not rare in montane forests at low elevations (Alt. 10 - 350m). Males frequently come to the banks of streams and puddles to suck water.
Page & Treadaway,2014 considered the type locality of arycles as Annam, Cochinchina or Cambodia. I agree with their treatment, considering the pattern of red markings on the UnH in the original description as the decisive basis.
