The butterfly is not rare in montane forests at moderate elevations (Alt. 500 - 1300m).
The taxon galaesus was described from 'Siam' by Fruhstorfer,1912. The description of the female in the original description may be a characteristic of the population from the Nakhon Nayok area. Most females of Nakhon Nayok have a bright orange band on the UpF. If the type specimens came from this area (including Muok-Lek ; Pak-Jong), the taxon from Myanmar (Karen Hills) to Thailand, known as ssp.galaesus, would be unnamed. I provisionally follow traditional arrangements. Further taxonomic study is needed.
