Satyrinae - Addendum

The following species were recorded from the Indo-Chinese region in previous publications, however were omitted from the list for the reasons written below.

Elymnias hypermnestra beatrice Fruhstorfer, 1902
[ THAILAND ]
Elymnias hypermnestra beatrice ; Pendlebury,1923 : 33. (Nakhon Sri Thammarat: Wat Kiriwong)
Elymnias hypermnestra agina ; Pinratana,1988 : 8. not fig. (list only)
Elymnias hypermnestra agina ; Ek-Amnuay,[2007] : 226, pl.85, figs.S4b♂(Malaysia),♂(Un,Malaysia),♀(Malaysia),♀(Un,Malaysia). ('Krabi' [loc.err.])
Elymnias hypermnestra agina ; Uémura,2010 : 1-2. (by literature)
Elymnias hypermnestra agina ; Ek-Amnuay,2012 : 226, pl.85, figs.N40b♂(Malaysia),♂(Un,Malaysia),♀(Malaysia),♀(Un,Malaysia). ('Krabi' [loc.err.])
Elymnias hypermnestra agina ; Kimura et al.,2016 : 161. (by literature)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This taxon has been known from a single record by Pendlebury,1923 from Nakhon Sri Thammarat, P.Thailand.
As mentioned under ssp.tinctoria, currently only ssp.tinctoria is found in peninsular Thailand. Ssp.beatrice is thought to have been replaced by ssp.tinctoria.

Lethe mataja Fruhstorfer, 1908
[ THAILAND ]
Lethe mataja ; Morishita,1994 : 121, figs.3,♀,4,♀(Un). ('Me-swai' [loc.err.])
Lethe philesanoides ; Ek-Amnuay,[2007] : 244, pl.94, fig.S24,♂[♀]. ('Chiang Mai' [loc.err.])
Lethe philesanoides ; Ek-Amnuay,2012 : 244, pl.94, fig.N60,♀. ('Chiang Mai' [loc.err.])
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Morishita,1994 recorded this species from Me-swai [Mae Sai, Chiang Rai]. This is based on a specimen from Y.Tetsuka's collection. We subsequently treated it as Lethe philesanoides, however a close examination of the specimen photos suggests that it is indeed most likely Lethe mataja. Lethe mataja is endemic to Taiwan and is unlikely to be distributed in Thailand. In Morishita,1994, Polygonia c-album asakurai was recorded from Thailand in Y.Tetsuka's collection, which is also considered to be a subspecies of Taiwan. I assume that the records of Lethe mataja and Polygonia c-album asakurai are erroneous due to contamination by specimens from Taiwan.

Ethope himachala (Moore, [1858])
[ THAILAND ]
Anadebis himachala ; Godfrey,1927 : 122. (N)
Anadebis himachala ; Godfrey,1930 : 247. (1♂, Apr.1921. Chiang Rai. M.B.Tennent)
Ethope himachala ; Pinratana,1988 : 18. not fig. (list only)
Ethope himachala ; Ek-Amnuay,[2007] : 258, pl.101, fig.S47,♂(Myanmar),♂(Un)[Up,Myanmar]. ('Chiang Rai' [loc.err.])
Ethope himachala ; Ek-Amnuay,2012 : 258, pl.101, fig.N82,♂(Myanmar),♂(Un,Myanmar). ('Chiang Rai' [loc.err.])
Ethope himachala ; Kimura et al.,2016 : 159. (by literature)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This taxon is known only from Godfrey's record and is possibly due to incorrect data.
Therefore, I would like to remove this species from the list until a reliable specimen is discovered.

Coelites nothis adamsoni Moore, 1891
[ THAILAND ]
Coelites nothis adamsoni ; Morishita,1979 : 60, pl.13, fig.♂(Un). (N.Thailand near Burma)
Coelites nothis adamsoni ; Ek-Amnuay,[2007] : 290, S84b, not fig. (N)
Coelites nothis adamsoni ; Ek-Amnuay,2012 : 290, N119b, not fig. (N)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Only a single record by Morishita,1979 from 'northern Thailand' (no details) is known. However, this specimen closely resembles the nominotypical subspecies, and is likely an erroneous locality. Therefore, I would like to remove this species from the list until a reliable specimen is discovered.

Zipaetis scylax Hewitson, [1863]
[ LAOS ]
Zipoetis [sic] saitis f.saitis ; Dubois & Vitalis,1924 : 27. (Ban-San-Savouane; Nong-Lao)
Zipoetis [sic] scyllax [sic] ssp. ; Motono & Negishi,1989 : 65, not fig. (list only)
Zipaetis scylax ; Osada, Uémura & Uehara,1999 : 212, not fig. (list only)
Zipaetis scylax ; Uémura,2005 : 3. (list only)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The records of scylax in Laos are considered to be Zipoetis unipupillata.

Ypthima sakra austeni (Moore, [1892])
[ THAILAND ]
Ypthima sakra austeni ; Pinratana,1988 : 34. not fig. (N; list only)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The record of Ypthima sakra austeni from Thailand is considered to be a misidentification of other Ypthima species, possibly Ypthima yunosukei.

Callerebia orixa Moore, 1872
[ THAILAND ]
Erebia annada orixa ; Godfrey,1932b : 322. (1♂, 17.Mar.1932. Pu Wieng, Kawnken [Pu Wiang, Khon Kaen], N.E.Siam. A.F.G.Kerr)
Callerebia annada orixa ; Pinratana,1988 : 36. not fig. (list only)
Callerebia annada orixa ; Ek-Amnuay,[2007] : 304, pl.125, figs.S109,♀[♂](Un). ('Chiang Mai' [loc.err.])
Callerebia annada orixa ; Ek-Amnuay,2012 : 304, pl.125, fig.N145,♂(Un). ('Chiang Mai' [loc.err.])
[ LAOS ]
Callerebia annada f.ananda ; Dubois & Vitalis,1924 : 28. (Ban-San-Savouane)
Callerebia annada f.hybrida ; Dubois & Vitalis,1924 : 28. (Ban-San-Savouane)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The record of Godfrey,1932 by a specimen of Dr.Kerr from N.E.Siam is quite doubtful. It is highly possible to be an erroneous locality. The records of Ek-Amnuay,[2007],2012 are also incorrect. The figured specimen is no doubt taken from other literatures, although not mentioned clearly, and it could be Callerebia scanda from India.
The records of annada from Laos are considered to be a misidentification of suroia. Therefore, I would like to remove this species from the list until a reliable specimen is discovered.
