Notes
The butterfly is common in montane forests at low to high elevations (Alt. 250 - 1600m) and males are territorial on canopies at 9:00 to 10:30.
Both sexes visit flowers and males frequently come to the banks of streams and puddles to suck water.
The markings on the upperside of both sexes are quite variable, and more subject to seasonal and individual variation than to geographic variation.
The markings tend to decrease from east to west and north to south, suggesting that it is a large cline.
All taxa described from the continental area, India to China, belong to this range of individual variation and cannot be clearly separated.
These names were given to individuals of extreme variation.
The different variations and intermediate individuals occur even in the same region.
