According to the molecular analysis of Sbordoni et al. (2018), the populations in C. Vietnam are rather different from those in the surrounding areas.
Subsequently, Monastyrskii (2024) treated endoi as a separate species and noted its similarity to ssp.malayana from W. Malaysia.
However, I consider the relationship to ssp.hedybia from Thailand to be very important:
the individuals illustrated by Monastyrskii (2024) as endoi from N. Vietnam seem to me to be a variation of hedybia.
Indeed, there seem to be two strains of belladonna: the belladonna strain and the endoi (hedybia) strain.
I will provisionally treat endoi as a subspecies of belladonna until hedybia, malayana and the surrounding populations can be analysed.
