Notes
The butterfly is not rare in montane forests at moderate to high elevations (Alt. 700 - 1600m) and is sympatrically distributed with Horaga onyx onyxa.
Males are territorial on trees at forest edges or hilltops.
Time of male activity is different between the two species. In syrinx from about 11:00 to 14:00 while in onyx from about 14:00 to 16:00.
Cowan,1966 regarded the record from Ranong by Godfrey,1930 as this taxon.
However, the possibility of ssp.maenala is also considered and needs to be confirmed by reliable specimens.
