Lycaeninae - Addendum

The following species were recorded from the Indo-Chinese region in previous publications, however were omitted from the list for the reasons written below.

Celatoxia marginata splendens (Butler, 1900)
[ THAILAND ]
Celastrina marginata splendens ; Pinratana,1981 : 45, 163. not fig. (list only)
Celatoxia marginata splendens ; Eliot & Kawazoé,1983 : 203. (Chantapuri [Chanthaburi] : North Soldao Hills.)
'Celatoxia marginata splendens ; Ek-Amnuay,[2007] : 566, pl.256, figs.L97b,♂(Malaysia),♀(Malaysia),♂(Un,Malaysia), [photo from Eliot,1992]. (Chanthaburi)'
'Celatoxia marginata splendens ; Ek-Amnuay,2012 : 586, pl.265, figs.L122b,♂(Malaysia),♂(Un,Malaysia),♀(Malaysia), [photo from Eliot,1992]. (Chanthaburi)'
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pinratana,1981 and Eliot & Kawazoé,1983 recorded this taxon in Chanthaburi, S.E.Thailand. However, I suspect that this may be a variation of the nominotypical subspecies. Kimura et al.,2014 recorded a female of Celatoxia marginata splendens from Kao Soi Dao [Khao Soi Dao], but this is considered to be a misidentification of Acytolepis puspa gisca. Therefore, I remove this taxon from the list until a reliable specimen is found.

Jamides zebra lakatti Corbet, 1940
[ THAILAND ]
Jamides zebra lakatti ; Pinratana,1981 : 57. not fig. (Yala)
Jamides zebra lakatti [Jamides pura pura] ; Ek-Amnuay,[2007] : 576, pl.260, figs.L116,♂,♂(Un). (Yala)
Jamides zebra lakatti ; Ek-Amnuay,2012 : 596, pl.270, figs.L141,♂(Malaysia),♀(Malaysia),[photos from Eliot,1992],♀(Un,Borneo,[ssp.zebra]),[photo from D'Abrera,1986]. (Yala)
Jamides zebra lakatti ; Kimura et al.,2014 : 171. (by literature)
Jamides zebra lakatti [Jamides pura pura] ; Küppers & Janikorn,2020 : 158, fig.Abb.L-182. (Phang Nga)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pinratana,1981 and Ek-Amnuay,2012 recorded this taxon from Thailand. However, no reliable specimen exists. Ek-Amnuay,[2007] and Küppers & Janikorn,2020 also recorded it, but these were misidentifications of Jamides pura. Therefore, I remove this taxon from the list until a reliable specimen is found. Since there are many very similar species in this genus, an examination of the genitalia is needed.

Heliophorus androcles rubida Riley, 1929
[ THAILAND ]
Heliophorus androcles rubida ; Ek-Amnuay,[2007] : 590, pl.267, fig.L161,♂(Kachin, N.Myanmar). ('Chiang Mai' [loc.err.])
Heliophorus androcles rubida ; Ek-Amnuay,2012 : 616, pl.279, figs.L185,♂(Kachin, N.Myanmar),♂(Kachin, N.Myanmar, Un) ('Chiang Mai' [loc.err.])
Heliophorus androcles rubida ; Kimura et al.,2014 : 150. (by literature)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ek-Amnuay,[2007],2012 recorded this taxon, however the illustrated specimens are all from N.Myanmar. This species has not been found from Thailand.

Heliophorus hybrida (Tytler, 1912)
[ THAILAND ]
Heliophorus hybrida ; Pinratana,1981 : 71, pl.11, fig.20,♂. (Chiang Mai)
Heliophorus hybrida ; Ek-Amnuay,[2007] : 590, pl.267, figs.L163,♂,♂(Un). (Chiang Mai)
Heliophorus hybrida ; Ek-Amnuay,2012 : 616, pl.279, figs.L187,♂,♂,♂(Un). (Chiang Mai)
Heliophorus hybrida ; Kimura et al.,2014 : 150. (by literature)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pinratana,1971 and Ek-Amnuay,[2007],2012 recorded this taxon from Chiang Mai, N.Thailand. However, these records seem to be misidentifications of Heliophorus brahma, as Kimura et al.,2014 pointed out. Some individuals of Heliophorus brahma from northern Thailand have greenish golden markings on the upperside of both wings and a rather narrow red marginal border on the UpH. Its coloration is the same as that of Heliophorus hybrida, without the reddish tinge from all angles. But examination of male genitalia confirmes these are definitely Heliophorus brahma. Therefore, I remove this taxon from the list.

Shirozuozephyrus kirbariensis mapanputicus (Koiwaya,2000)
[ THAILAND ]
Chrysozephyrus kirbariensis mapanpunicus ; Ek-Amnuay,[2007] : 600, pl.272, figs.L188,♂(Kachin, N.Myanmar),♂(Kachin, N.Myanmar, Un). ('Mae Hong Son: Mae Sariang' [loc.err.])
Shirozuozephyrus kirbariensis mapanputicus ; Koiwaya,2007 : 240-242. ('N.Thailand' [loc.err.])
Chrysozephyrus kirbariensis mapanpunicus ; Ek-Amnuay,2012 : 630, pl.285, figs.L213,♂(Kachin N.Myanmar),♂(Kachin, N.Myanmar, Un). ('Mae Hong Son: Mae Sariang' [loc.err.])
Shirozuozephyrus kirbariensis mapanputicus ; Kimura et al.,2014 : 150. (by literature)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ek-Amnuay,[2007],2012 recorded this taxon from 'Mae Hong Son: Mae Sariang' and Koiwaya,2007 followed it. However, these are incorrect. The illustrated specimen was obtained in Kachin, N.Myanmar.

Arhopala avathina avathina Corbet, 1941
[ THAILAND ]
Arhopala avathina avathina ; Kimura et al.,2014 : 61, figs.♂,♂(Un). (Than To WF.)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kimura et al.,2014 recorded this species from Yala. However, the illustrated specimen is considered to be a different species. It could be Arhopala avatha, at least it is not avathina. I would like to remove this species from the list until a reliable specimen is found.

Arhopala havilandi kota (Evans, 1957)
[ THAILAND ]
Arhopala havilandi kota ; Ek-Amnuay,[2007] : 620, pl.281, figs.L231,♂,♂(Un) [Arhopala ariana ssp.], ♀,♀(Un) [Arhopala aida aida]. (Chumphon [loc.err.])
Arhopala havilandi kota ; Kimura et al.,2014 : 66. (by literature)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ek-Amnuay,[2007] recorded this taxon from 'Chumphon' in the northern part of P.Thailand. However, the specimens illustrated are all misidentifications; the male is Arhopala ariana and the female is Arhopala aida, and 'Chumphon' seems to be an erroneous locality. I consider that true havilandi is not distributed in Thailand. Therefore, I remove this taxon from the list until a reliable specimen is found.

Tajuria sunia Moulton, 1911
[ THAILAND ]
Tajuria sunia ; Ek-Amnuay,[2007] : 688, pl.314, figs.L361,♀(Malaysia),♀(Un,Malaysia)),[photos from Fleming,1983]. (no loc.)
Tajuria sunia ; Ek-Amnuay,2012 : 730, pl.334, figs.L384♀(Malaysia),♀(Malaysia,Un),[photos from Fleming,1983]. (no loc.)
Tajuria sunia ; Kimura et al.,2014 : 117. (by literature)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ek-Amnuay,[2007],2012 recorded this taxon but based on misidentification of Tajuria berenis. This species has not been found in Thailand.

Hypolycaena kina celastroides (Corbet, 1938)
[ THAILAND ]
Chliaria kina celastroides ; Ek-Amnuay,[2007] : 702, pl.321, figs.389b♂(Malaysia),♂(Malaysia,Un),♀(Malaysia). (Yala)
Hypolycaena kina celastroides ; Ek-Amnuay,2012 : 746, pl.342, figs.L411b♂(Malaysia),♂(Malaysia,Un),♀(Malaysia). (Yala)
Hypolycaena kina celastroides ; Kimura et al.,2014 : 129. (by literature)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ek-Amnuay,[2007],2012 recorded this taxon from Yala, however the illustrated specimens are all from Malaysia. This taxon has not been found in Thailand.

[ THAILAND ]
Rapala nissa pahangana ; Ek-Amnuay,[2007] : 716, not fig. (Than To)
Rapala nissa pahangana ; Ek-Amnuay,2012 : 764, pl.351, figs.'446b'[445b],♂(Malaysia),♂(Malaysia,Un); ♂(Malaysia),♂(Malaysia,Un),[photos from Eliot,1992]. (Than To)
Rapala nissa pahangana ; Kimura et al.,2014 : 143. (by literature)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ek-Amnuay,[2007],2012 recorded this taxon from Than To, Yala, however the illustrated specimens are all from Malaysia. This taxon has not been found in Thailand.
