The butterfly is uncommon in montane forests at moderate elevations (Alt. 700 - 1400m).
Males are territorial on trees at hilltops.
The type locality of this species is problematic.
The original description by Hewitson (1865) gave it as "India", but Corbet's revision (1940: 113) gave it as "Burma, Moulmein" [Mawlamyine, Myanmar].
I wondered why Corbet thought it was Moulmein, but a check of the NHML type specimen shows it labelled "E. Indies" and "Moulmein Clerk, 43.43".
Corbet clearly seems to have followed this "Moulmein Clerk" label.
The name of "Clerk" is the person who purchased the material from Hewitson.
Similarly, it is quite possible that 'India' at the time covered British India, including Burma, and that the type locality was Moulmein, Myanmar. (R.Vane-Wright, pers. comm.)
Furthermore, subsequent studies suggest that Tajuria sekii is synonymous with this taxon.
