The butterfly is locally common in montane forests at low to moderate elevationas (Alt. 50 - 700m). Males are territorial on trees at hilltops and occur sympatrically with Horaga syrinx maenala in Yala. Time of male activity is different between the two species. In syrinx from about 11:00 to 14:30 while in onyx from about 15:00 to 16:00.
