Notes
The butterfly is common in montane forest at low elevations (Alt. 10 - 450m).
Males are territorial on shrubs or undergrowth.
The species is highly variable in color and markings in both sexes and the wing shape tends to be rounder from north to south.
The populations from the southern part of peninsular Thailand, Yala and Narathiwat, are close to the nominotypical subspecies in W.Malaysia.
Further taxonomic study is needed.
The males of this species and Cynitia cocytina are hardly distinguishable without examination of the genitalia.
