Notes

This is the first record in Vietnam.
The first record from Thailand was obtained in Pua Dist., Nan in Mar.1991 by a local catcher. The butterfly is locally not rare in montane forests at moderate to high elevations (Alt. 1000 - 1700m).
The species was described as a subspecies of Athyma selenophora, but it was raised to independent species by Koiwaya (2016). He pointed out that the specimens shown above, which I have illustrated as Athyma selenophora on my WEB, are this species. Although, Lang (2012:265) treated it as a synonym of selenophora bahura, I tentatively treat yui as a distinct species following Koiwaya. However, the relationship of Athyma yui, Athyma selenophora and Athyma whitei is still unclear. Further taxonomic study is needed.
