The butterfly is not rare in montane forests at moderate to high elevations (Alt. 600 - 1700m) and is confined to Pua Dist., Nan, N.Thailand.
In Pua Dist., Nan, hitherto, only ssp.thaithummakulorum had been known for over 30 years, and ssp.nolana is only found in Chiang Klang Dist., the opposite mountain range to Pua Dist.
However, recently in 2020 - 2021, We found ssp.thaithummakulorum and ssp.nolana occurring together in Pua Dist. Possibly, ssp.nolana might be expanding its distribution due to environmental changes, such as desiccation. Currently, both subspecies are distinct and there are no intermediate individuals. It will be very interesting to see how the relationship between these two subspecies will progress.
