The butterfly is common in montane forests at low to moderate elevations (Alt. 50 - 1300m) and is frequently found on forest paths or forest edges.
In Pua dist., Nan, hitherto only ssp.thaithummakulorum had been known for over 30 years, and ssp.nolana is found only in Chiang Klang dist., the opposit mountain range to Pua dist.
However, recently in 2020 - 2021, We found ssp.thaithummakulorum and ssp.nolana occurring together in Pua dist. Possibly, ssp.nolana might be expanding its distribution due to environmental changes, such as desiccation. Currently, both subspecies are distinct and there are no intermediate individuals. It will be very interesting to see how the relationship between these two subspecies will progress.
