Notes
The butterfly is locally common in montane forests at low to moderate elevations (Alt. 300 - 1000m).
Males are territorial on shrubs at hilltops and fly in circles at high speed around their territory, and frequently come to the banks of streams and puddles to suck water.
The record from Pak Jong, C.Thailand in Godfrey,1930 is somewhat doubtful and it will remain on hold until we are able to examine a definitive specimen.
Zhang et al.,2022 treated genus Ctenoptilum as a subgenus of Tapena on the basis of molecular analysis and morphology.
