Notes
The butterfly is not uncommon in forests at low to moderate elevations (100-550 m a.s.l.) and is crepuscular.
Males are frequently observed mud-puddling along stream banks and at puddles.
Both ssp.oedipodea and ssp.belesis occur together in Phetchaburi.
The area between the northern part of the peninsular Thailand and Kanchanaburi seems to be a transitional zone.
A photo record from Koh Samui taken by L. Day seems to be ssp.belesis, but confirmation by specimen is needed.
