The classification of this species and Taxila dora has long been confused. Most previous records from Laos and many localities in Vietnam as Taxila dora were misidentifications of Taxila hainana.
Callaghan (2009:78-79) raised hainana to be a distinct species from dora based on the characteristics of the wing pattern and the genitalia. However, the species he identified as 'dora' is clearly misidentified and quite similar to the population he identified as hainana. I suspect that these could be the same hainana. Further taxonomic study is needed.
