The butterfly is locally not rare in secondary and montane forests at low to high elevations (Alt. 450 - 1700m). Both sexes visit flowers.
The Indo-Chinese populations, previously thought to be ssp.moorei from Tibet, Kashmir and Baluchistan, are at least different from it. Here, it is provisionally treated as ssp.amphimara, which seems to be the closest. Further taxonomic study is needed.
