The figured specimen shown above is the first discovery in Vietnam.
Zhang et al. (2020) treated Aglais as a subgenus of Nymphalis.
There are several different opinions on the classification of subgenus Aglais.
Here the taxon chinensis is tentatively treated as a separate species.
Further taxonomic studies are required.
