The butterfly is locally not rare in lowland primary forests.
This taxon has almost the same markings as the nominotypical subspecies from Langkawi island, however, the male genitalia is quite different.
The tip of dorsal projection of the valva is almost vestigial, lacking the sickle-shaped projection like those of ssp.burmana.
