Notes

The butterfly is locally common in montane forests at low to moderate elevations (Alt. 200 - 500m) and is often found around streams or forest edges. Males frequently come to the banks of streams and puddles to suck water.
This taxon is very similar to ssp.roxana and the ordinary form is hardly distinguishable by the wing markings, though it tends to be slightly smaller in size. I have never seen the winter season form in this taxon, however it might be included in ssp.roxana. Further taxonomic study is needed.
