Notes
The butterfly is not rare in montane forests at moderate elevations (Alt. 500 - 1300m).
The populations from S. Yunnan, Myanmar (Karen Hills) to northern to north-central Thailand have been treated as ssp.galaesus.
However, as noted on the ssp.galaesus page, this seems to be a distinct and unnamed subspecies.
Both sexes are smaller than the nominotypical subspecies and ssp.meinippus.
In the dry season form males, the subapical white spots are distinct, large and developed, and the median band tends to be wider.
The females are only known to have a greyish-white banded form.
