The butterfly is uncommon in Peninsular Thailand and is found in montane forest at moderate elevations.
Phaedyma columella is highly variable species in terms of both individual and seasonal variation. And it is unclear whether this taxon can be clearly separated from ssp.martabana as Eliot,1969 pointed out. Further taxonomic study is needed.
