The populations from S.E.Thailand, Laos and Vietnam have often been treated as ssp.idyalis. However, the males have a conspicuous white spot on the hindwing, a feature that is not present in ssp.idyalis. It is also unlikely that they are the same taxon based on biogeography. Further taxonomic study is needed.
