Within the populations of northern Vietnam, individuals of ssp.godartii, f.layardi, ssp.amymone, and intermediate forms are intermixed. Although the typical amymone is more commonly found in northeastern Vietnam, the region spanning from northern to central Vietnam is essentially considered a transitional zone for both taxa. Further taxonomic and distributional studies are needed.
