The butterfly is not rare locally in montane dense forests at low to moderate elevations (Alt. 50 - 1000m).
The specimens from Ranong have similar markings to ssp.splendens, but with a more purplish lustre and the blue patches have less a silvery tinge. It also resembles ssp.dalata, but the male genitalia belong to the diores group and are quite different from those of the hainana group. It appears to be a distinct subspecies. Further distributional and taxonomic studies are needed.
