The butterfly is not rare locally in montane dense forests at low to moderate elevations (Alt.400 - 1300m).
The populations in N.Vietnam and C.Thailand have slightly different genitalia that seems intermediate between ssp.diores and ssp.hainana. However blue markings on the upperside are similar to ssp.diores. I treat the populations in northern Indo-china region as nominotypical subspecies provisionally. Further taxonomic study is needed.
