The butterfly is locally very common in montane forests at moderate to high elevations (Alt. 1250 - 2600m). Males frequently come to the banks of streams and puddles to suck water.
One of the paratypes is recorded from 'Thung Salengluang [Thung Salaeng Luang, Phitsanulok prov.], N.Thailand' on 10.July.1976. I consider the data, both location and date, is most likely to be incorrect. Hitherto, this taxon has only been found in Chiang Mai and is unlikely to occur in July. Further research is needed.
