The butterfly is locally not rare in montane forests at low to moderate elevations (Alt. 30 - 550m) and is frequently found on forest paths and forest edges. Males occasionally come to the banks of streams and puddles to suck water.
There is a view that the Indochinese taxon is ssp.birmana, but on examination of the material, there is no difference to ssp.eudoxa from Malaysia. Therefore, I treat it as ssp.eudoxa.
