The butterfly is locally common in montane forests at moderate elevations (Alt. 700 - 1200m). Males are frequently territorial on trees at hilltops and occasionally come to the banks of streams and puddles to suck water.
Pinratana,1979 recorded it from Chiang Mai, but this is probably an erroneous locality. Further distributional research is needed.
