The butterfly is uncommon in montane forsts at moderate elevations (Alt. 850-1000m).
The female of this taxon is unclear. Further taxonomic and distributional studies are needed.

As illustrated above, female specimens of either amethystus or purpurescens have been obtained from Vietnam and S.E. Thailand. The female specimen from S.E. Thailand was collected by Etsuo Ikari on Koh Kut in Trat Province. However, identification is provisionally withheld until comparative specimens are available to confirm it with certainty.
