The butterfly is uncommon in forests at low to moderate elevations (180-766 m a.s.l.).
The populations from C. Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam resemble ssp.miniata from Upper Tenasserim, Myanmar. However, females of ssp.miniata have prominent whitish scales in the tornal area on the UpH, whereas those from the former populations virtually lack them. Due to significant individual and geographical variation within the Myanmar populations, a comprehensive review of the entire mainland population appears necessary.
Seki & Nakamura (2026) recorded this taxon from "Wan Chin, Phrae, N. Thailand", but this record is considered dubious. To date, I have not personally examined or confirmed any specimens of this species from N. Thailand. Consequently, the record from Phrae is excluded from the distribution map pending the availability of verifiable collection records.
The larval maculation of the population from C. to S.E. Thailand (Nakhon Nayok to Sa Kaeo) differs significantly from that of the populations in Laos and P. Thailand, whereas male genitalia are similar. This population may also differ slightly in its molecular characteristics from those distributed across N.E. Thailand (Ubon Ratchathani), Laos, and Vietnam. Here, this population is provisionally included in this taxon. However, further taxonomic studies, particularly those incorporating molecular analyses, are needed to clarify its taxonomic status.
