Notes
The butterfly is common in montane forests at low to high elevations (Alt. 300 - 1750m).
Males are territorial on trees or shrubs at hilltops.
Wang & Fan (2002) described Flos yunnanensis as a distinct species, but the distinctive markings on the UnH suggests that it is Flos anniella.
On the other hand, the populations of anniella from N.Thailand, Laos and Vietnam have been treated as ssp.artegal.
However, the females of these populations have very broad black margins on both wings, the same as yunnanensis.
The males have a darker ground color and less distinctive markings on the UnH than other subspecies.
Therefore, I treat Flos yunnanensis as a subspecies of Flos anniella and include the northern Indochinese populations in this taxon.
