Ek-Amnuay,[2007],2012 and Kimura et al.,2014 recorded Arhopala opalina azata from Ranong, but these are considered to be a different subspecies. Thus, this is the first record of true ssp.azata from Thailand. The butterfly is rare and found in montane forest at moderate elevations (Alt.700m)
