Ek-Amnuay ([2007],2012) and Kimura et al. (2014) recorded Arhopala opalina azata from Ranong, but these are considered to be a different subspecies. Thus, the specimen shown above is the first record of true ssp.azata from Thailand. The butterfly is rare and found in montane forests at moderate elevations (Alt. 800m)
