This species has long been thought to be the continental population of Allotinus corbeti since Osada et al. (1999), but the male genitalia is completely different.
Characteristics of this taxon are highly similar to Allotinus nicholsi Moulton, 1911 from Borneo and Sumatra.
This species has a unique characteristic.
It has cornuti in its aedeagus.
This is only shared by Allotinus nicholsi and this species within the genus Allotinus.
Although many of its basic characteristics suggest that it belongs to the subgenus Paragerydus,
it also exhibits features typical of the subgenus Allotinus.
Kaliszewska et al. (2014) stated that A. nicholsi belongs to the subgenus Paragerydus.
Here, it is provisionally classified as belonging to the subgenus Paragerydus, but further taxonomic study is needed.
The butterfly is quite localized and uncommon in montane forests at moderate elevations (Alt. 700 - 900m).
Males are territorial on trees or undergrowth from 10:30 to 11:30 occurring only around the host plant, and 15:30 to 16:00 at hilltops.
Further distributional research is needed.
