The butterfly is not rare in montane forest at low elevation (Alt. 10 - 100m). Males are territorial on shrubs or undergrowth.
The populations of Koh Samui and Koh Phangan are close to this subspecies. I temporarily treat them as ssp.aoyamai although there are slight differences. Further taxonomic study is needed.
