This is localized species however is not rare in their habitats. The butterfly is found in montane forest at moderate elevations (Alt.700m - 1000m).
In some examples from C.Thailand, the orange marking of the UpF is rather broader, however it is variable.
Kimura et al.,2016 recorded it from 'Chiang Dao, Chiang Mai', but these specimens were obtained from local dealer. There are no other records in this area, and further research is needed to determine if this species is indeed distributed in Northern Thailand. Therefore, Chiang Mai is excluded from the distribution map.
