The butterfly is locally not rare in montane forests at moderate elevations (Alt. 1000 - 1300m). Males occasionally come to the banks of streams and puddles to suck water.
Uehara & Maruyama,2016 treated Halpe fushigina as a subspecies of Halpe scissa. However, in comparison to fushigina : small in size, the white spots in spaces 2 and 3 on the UpF are conspicuously smaller, and their distributions overlap in Thailand and Malaysia. Thus, we consider them to be separate species.
