The butterfly is locally not rare in low to moderate elevations.
They often fly out from bushes along the trail and rest on the underside of leaves with their wings spread.
This taxon is highly variable and very similar to ssp.flora in markings and male genitalia.
The main difference is a darker ground colour on the upper side compared to those of ssp.flora.
The populations from E.Thailand and S.Laos are provisionally included in this taxon.
Further taxonomic and distributional studies, including populations in E.Thailand and S.Laos, are needed.
The taxonomy of this species is very confusing.
This is due to the extremely high geographical, individual and seasonal variation of the species.
It has been tentatively re-examined, including subsequent findings.
However, there is still a lack of specimens from each location and the classification is likely to change in the future.
