Notes

The butterfly is common in secondary and montane forests at low elevations (Alt. 10 - 150m). Both sexes visit flowers.
The markings of this taxon are rather variable. In general, the androconial brand on the UpF is smaller and more obscure than that of other taxa.
Both ssp.godartii, ssp.graminifera and these intermediate individuals are sympatric in the area of Chumphon and the islands of Surat Thani (Koh Tao, Koh Samui, Koh Phangan). This seems to be the transition zone between ssp.godartii and ssp.graminifera. The individuals with graminifera-like markings in this area have a much larger and more prominent androconial brand on the UpF as in godartii. Although the markings are very similar, this could be different from taxon graminifera. Moreover, the form layardi and its intermediate forms are found throughout the region. The subspecies divisions in the illustrated distribution map are provisional. Further taxonomic and distributional studies, including DNA analysis, are needed.
This species is indistinguishable from several similar species by the UnH markings. The androconial brand on the UnF and the UpF markings must be examined.
