The butterfly is locally common in montane forests at low to moderate elevations (Alt. 50 - 900m). Both sexes visit flowers, and males occasionally come to the banks of streams and puddles to suck water.
As noted by Monastyrskii,2011, northern individuals tend to have larger white submarginal spots on the UpH, but this characteristic is variable and not stable.
This species is indistinguishable from several similar species by the UnH markings. The androconial brand on the UnF and the UpF markings must be examined.
