The butterfly is locally common in montane dense forests mixed with bamboo at low to moderate elevations (Alt. 30 - 1100m) and is observed they prefer to rest on the dead leaves on trees. Examples in Ranong, especially individuals in the higher elevations, tend to be larger in size and slightly smaller white markings on the upperside. It was described by Sukhumalind & Ek-Amnuay,[2007] as ssp.pinratanai, however it is unavailable name. Moreover both populations from Kanchanaburi and Ranong are variable and hard to clearly separable.
