The butterfly is locally common in montane forests at low elevations (Alt. 150 - 350m).
The type locality of this species is thought to be 'East India', but this is doubtful since ssp.adamsoni occurs in that area. I suspect it could be from the Indo-China area. Furthermore, the distribution map shown above is also curious. The records of the nominotypical subspecies and ssp.sylvarum are unnaturally intermingled. Further taxonomic and distributional studies are needed.
