The butterfly is rather localized and uncommon in montane forests at low to moderate elevations (Alt. 30 - 600m).
In flight, male is similar to Euploea species (Danainae).
Wei et al. (2017:123) showed the distribution of ssp.penanga as the southernmost part of P. Thailand (Yala and Narathiwat) and W. Malaysia in Fig. 39, but this is incorrect and it is distributed south of Nakhon Si Thammarat.
