The butterfly is locally common in montane forests at moderate elevations (Alt. 600 - 1200m).
Males form flight paths along streams or forest edges, and frequently come to the banks of streams and puddles to suck water.
Both male and female are thought to mimic Atrophaneura varuna, however they are not similar.
In flight, it closely resembles the mimetic species Papilio alcmenor.
