The butterfly is locally common in montane primary forests at low to moderate elevations (Alt. 200 - 500m) and is frequently found along the streams. Males are territorial on leaves or trunks of trees at forest edges.
This subspecies has darker ground color on the upperside, narrower and darker orange band on the UpF than nominotypical subspecies.
