The butterfly is locally common in montane forests at moderate elevations (700-1,200 m a.s.l.). Males are frequently territorial on trees at hilltops and are occasionally observed mud-puddling along stream banks and at puddles.
Pinratana (1979) recorded it from Chiang Mai, but this is probably an erroneous locality. Further distributional research is needed.
