The butterfly is locally common in montane forests at low to moderate elevations (Alt. 10 - 1000m) and often rest on the underside of leaves. Males are territorial on shrubs or trees.
On Koh Chang, Trat, the island north of Koh Kut, a Neomyrina species was photographed by Koichi Yano in 2014. However, as there are no specimens available, it is unclear whether it is hiemalis or ikarii. Further distributional research is needed.
