One of the main characteristics of this subspecies in the original description, "1. A well-developed albescent tinge in the submarginal area within cells 1b and 3-5", is not specific to this taxon, but is occasionally observed in other species as well. This phenomenon is thought to be caused by external factors. It seems to be particularly common in specimens collected in high humidity.

Arhopala agaba agaba from Chiang Mai,Arhopala silhetensis silhetensis from Surat Thani and Arhopala agrata from Trat show a similar phenomenon.
These individuals are found among the ordinary individuals.
