The butterfly is locally common in montane forests at high elevations (Alt. 1600 - 2200m) and to have a single generation per year. Males frequently come to the banks of streams and puddles to suck water.
A male specimen was caught in Xieng Khouang, Laos by Hiroaki Onodera and is the first record from Laos. It seems to belong to this taxon.
In Saito & Inayoshi (2018), the specimen illustrated as Celastrina hersilia evansi is a misidentification of the close species Celastrina sugitanii lenzeni.
