The butterfly is very common in montane forests at low to high elevations (Alt. 30 - 1800m). Males frequently come to the banks of streams and puddles to suck water.
Some specimens of the extreme dry season form are quite similar to that of Celatoxia marginata. I consider the figured specimen of Celatoxia marginata splendens in Kimura et al. (2014) to be this taxon.

I have observed Neopithecops zalmora ♂ courting Acytolepis puspa ♂. The Neopithecops zalmora ♂ persistently courted the Acytolepis puspa ♂ and, incredibly, tried to mate with it. Eventually Acytolepis puspa ♂ flew away.
